Associate Member (AIAAP)
A practical entry point for professionals developing their capability across accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and finance operations.
- Meet at least one route: diploma (RQF Level 4 or equivalent), Year 1 degree, relevant entry qualification, or experience.
- Develop credibility with designatory letters and a recognised membership status.
- Member communications, career resources, and community support.
Member (MIAAP)
For competent and experienced professionals who can evidence qualifications and verified work experience.
- Requires both: relevant qualification route and verified professional experience.
- Showcase recognised status and build employability with a clear professional standard.
- Access member updates, resources, and global networking opportunities.
Fellow Member (FIAAP)
For senior experts and leaders with strong standing, proven experience, and meaningful contribution to the profession.
- Requires a recognised degree, accepted professional qualification route, and senior experience.
- Two references required, plus evidence of impact, leadership, governance, standards, or contribution.
- Position your expertise with the highest IAAP membership designation.

Eligibility and what we look for
IAAP assesses applications based on qualification route, verified experience, and professional standing. Use this as a checklist before you apply.
Associate (AIAAP): meet at least one route
- Academic: recognised diploma in accounting or finance (RQF Level 4 or equivalent), or Year 1 of a relevant degree.
- Professional: recognised entry-level qualifications (for example LCCI Level 3, IAB Level 3, or equivalent).
- Experience: relevant work across accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax or finance operations.
- Conduct: commitment to ethical practice and professional standards.
Member (MIAAP): qualification plus experience
- Qualification: relevant advanced diploma, degree, or partial completion of a recognised professional qualification pathway.
- Experience: verified professional experience demonstrating competence across multiple finance disciplines.
- Standing: no disciplinary issues, demonstrated ethical behaviour.
- Examples of accepted minimum conditions are listed on the membership page.
Fellow (FIAAP): seniority, standing, contribution
- Academic: recognised Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
- Professional route: accepted qualification or membership route in a recognised professional body.
- Experience: senior post-qualification experience and leadership or managerial responsibility.
- Reputation: two references, plus evidence of professional impact and contribution.
Quick prep checklist (avoid delays)

- Employment history and evidence of relevant experience (CV, role summaries, references where appropriate).
